Artist Statement
“I approach art intuitively, allowing my imagination and the painting process itself to guide me. My abstract shapes function as symbols evoking people or creatures, and coupled with my palette of bold color and subjects, I find a structure onto which I can allow my emotional self to reside.
I thread forms and feelings throughout the paintings, weaving all the parts together. I believe that we are all interrelated through energy, vibration and light – like ripples in water, it all connects.”
– Stacy Hay
Stacy Hay’s art is spiritual, sensitive, and dream like. Growing up a world traveler, a mix of cultural aesthetics comes into her images. Her works express life’s dualism where much is cheerful and colorful, emanating creative energy. In contrast, much of her work has a heavier tone, emphasizing emotions that encompass the tension of being psychologically or physically bound in constant turmoil. Her depth as an artist allows her to tackle hugely complex images that tell heavily layered stories, allegorical images that draw on myth and symbolism. Stacy is at home with delicate, but powerful, painting style or with intricate papercut collages. Perplexities, subtleties and bold in-your-face images all wait to grab the viewer.
