2009: Artist
mediums include: creating paintings, mixed media collages, monotype printmaking, papermaking, ceramic and wood relief works.
2015-2021: Art Instructor and Site Coordinator (part-time)
for the Arts in Corrections program at Sierra Conservation Center through the William James Association, a non-profit arts program. Teaching incarcerated students visual art mixed media art classes. I coordinated the arts program that included visual, literary and performing arts working with staff at SCC.
2003-2009 Correctional Counselor
I, Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Sierra Conservation Center. Carrying a caseload of up to 180 incarcerated people, reading, analyzing, evaluating, interviewing, reporting the current and past history for classification purpose to place the adults in the program that best serves the public interest and the rehabilitative efforts of the individual.
1986-2003 Artist/Facilitator
Department of Corrections, Arts in Corrections, to direct and coordinate the arts program for Sierra Conservation Center. I work with contract art instructors to offer visual, literary and performing arts workshops to incarcerated people. Supervised an arts crew designing and completing art projects for the Institutional and Community Beautification Program. I act as liaison between the local art community, statewide art organizations and the prison. Assisted resident artists in grant writing and have followed the rules and regulations of the institution. I instruct visual art workshops in drawing, painting, printmaking, papermaking, and mosaic tile murals. I coordinated numerous art shows of the participants artworks, art auctions and community projects such as: ten posters for the Department of Agriculture and Forestry for fire prevention; five mosaic tile murals for local elementary schools; Farmland at the Fair for Mother Lode County Fair; City of Sonora Winter Holiday project; 15 posters for Substance Abuse Prevention program, a large 10 panel acrylic mural for the Visitors Center at SCC, and huge topographic mural/signage for the Substance Abuse Program building at SCC.
1987-1989 Board of Directors
Central Sierra Arts Council, Vice President (1989).
I made executive decisions for programming, projects, budget, personnel and the gallery. Assisted coordinator in grant writing and the direction of the Central Sierra Arts Council.
1985-1986 Multi-Residency Artist
William James Association.
Taught visual art workshops to inmates at Sierra Conservation Center and Vallecito Conservation Camp. The workshops included: drawing, painting, woodblock printing and papermaking.
1983-1986 Correctional Officer
Sierra Conservation Center.Followed the rules and regulations of the institution. Supervised incarcerated adults in their living areas, job assignments, in most areas of the institution and recreational facilities. I worked with staff, the public and incarcerated population.
Special Assignments: Worked on the process of having the institution comply with the
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and American Correctional Association (ACA) Standards.
1983-1985 Community Volunteer
Art Workshops, Sierra Conservation Center.
Assisted instructor in teaching visual art workshops for incarcerated adults including drawing, painting and mural painting. I worked with institutional staff and other community volunteers. Followed the rules and polices of the prison.
1983 Deputy Sheriff
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department.
Supervised incarcerated people , issued clothing, canteen, exercise time, meals and visits. Completed booking and related paper work on all persons brought into and released rom the jail. Served warrants, collected moneys and property, Worked with staff to maintain the constant flow of people, health standards and safety.
1983 Special Education Substitute Teachers Aide

Taught handicapped children and teenagers to read, write, take care of themselves and learn to overcome their disabilities.
1981 Fine Woodworker
Upton Woodworking
Made detailed hand-crafted hardwood 1982 Swedish door harps and other wood products. Used a wide variety of wood working equipment, helped with secretarial work when needed.
1979-1981 Owner of Stratum Editions
Lithographic and Papermaking Shop.
Worked with art coordinator to print editions of our own art work and other artists in the community.
